Neurogenic
Adjective
Neurogenic refers to any condition or process that originates within or affects the nervous system. It is derived from the combination of the word “neuro,” which pertains to the nerves, and “genic,” denoting origin.
Neurogenic disorders or phenomena typically involve abnormal functioning or development of the nerves or neurons, leading to various neurological symptoms or impairments. These conditions can arise from genetic factors, trauma, infections, autoimmune diseases, or degenerative changes in the nervous system.
Medical professionals often use the term neurogenic to describe a wide range of conditions, including neurogenic bladder, neurogenic shock, neurogenic pain, neurogenic stuttering, and neurogenic thoracic outlet syndrome.
