Heart Murmurs

Definition:
Heart murmurs refer to abnormal sounds heard during the heartbeat cycle. These sounds are produced by turbulent blood flow within the heart or blood vessels, resulting from structural abnormalities, valve problems, or circulation abnormalities. Heart murmurs can be innocent (harmless) or pathological (related to an underlying heart condition). Diagnosis and further evaluation are necessary to determine the cause and severity of the murmur and guide appropriate treatment.
