Admission, Review, and Dismissal Committee (ARDC)

The Admission, Review, and Dismissal Committee (ARDC) is a group of individuals responsible for making educational decisions in the United States for students with disabilities. This committee ensures that students with special needs receive appropriate educational services and support to meet their unique and individualized requirements.

Admission

The admission phase of the ARDC involves the process of identifying and evaluating students who may require special education services. This includes the determination of eligibility for special education programs and the development of an Individualized Education Program (IEP) tailored to the specific needs and abilities of the student.

Review

The review aspect of the ARDC focuses on periodically assessing the progress and performance of students enrolled in special education programs. This helps in determining the effectiveness of the current educational plan and making any necessary modifications or adjustments to ensure the student’s continued growth and success.

Dismissal

The dismissal stage of the ARDC occurs when a student’s special education needs are no longer present or when it is determined that the current educational program is no longer appropriate. The committee conducts a comprehensive evaluation and review process to determine if the student can be dismissed from special education services, either due to sufficient improvement or other factors indicating no further need for specialized support.
