Adipocytes are specialized cells commonly known as fat cells that make up adipose tissue in the body. These cells play a crucial role in storing excess energy, insulating and cushioning organs, and regulating several metabolic processes. Adipocytes also secrete various hormones and cytokines, which are involved in appetite regulation, hormone production, inflammation, and immune responses.
