Autosexuality
Definition:
Autosexuality refers to an individual’s sexual attraction or desire towards themselves. This orientation involves finding oneself sexually appealing and becoming sexually aroused by self-stimulation.
Subtypes of Autosexuality:
- Autoeroticism: Autoeroticism refers to the practice of deriving sexual pleasure or arousal through self-stimulation, often involving masturbation.
- Autiandrophilia: Autiandrophilia is a specific form of autosexuality in which an individual, often assigned female at birth, experiences sexual attraction towards the imagined or actual self in the form of a man.
- Autogynephilia: Autogynephilia, on the other hand, is a subtype of autosexuality where an individual, often assigned male at birth, experiences sexual attraction towards the imagined or actual self in the form of a woman.
Caution: Autosexuality should not be confused with narcissism, as it is based on sexual attraction towards oneself rather than an excessive self-love or self-centeredness.
